Salvation Testimony
I am blessed to be born in a Christian home. I have a dad who is a Pastor, a loving mom, and sweet siblings. We went to church every Sunday; I listened to Bible stories and always prayed. I was confident everything is fine, but slowly everything became a routine for me. I still remember before our Sunday school teacher ends the lesson, she always led a prayer of accepting Jesus and I always followed, like routine. But I never fully understood what that really meant. But I thought everything was alright. I just need to please people around me especially at church because I am a pastor’s daughter.
But life was not simple for me being the eldest daughter of a preacher. People expected me to do good things and I needed to be a good example to others all the time. But as I grew up, especially then I reached high school, I felt jealous especially towards my classmates. They dressed differently, they can go anywhere they want and do all what they want to do. I started to pity myself because I wanted to be like them. I felt so alone and an outcast.
Until one day, while I was sitting outside our house, a church worker who was like a big sister to me came and we starting just talking. But then she asked suddenly if I’m already saved. I said yes. But she asked me how I know, I told her because I always followed the prayer in accepting Jesus, by being good to people and because I’m a preacher’s daughter. She told me that no one is good enough because of sin. She pointed out the sins one by one according to the Bible and said everyone is a sinner. Because of what she said, I realized that I’m a sinner because of the sins I’ve committed. I was not good enough as I always thought I was regardless of the routine I did at church and how I lived as preacher’s kid. She quoted John 3:16 that says “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
I already knew this verse because I always heard it and even memorized it, but this time it became clearer and meaningful to me when she explained it. Everything made sense that very moment. A sinner like me, a filthy rag in the sight of God, unlovable and has nothing, yet He loves me giving His only begotten Son. Jesus died on the cross of Calvary to pay the sins He didn’t do just for me to have the gift of eternal life and go to Heaven to be with Him.
So I made my decision there, that day I made the biggest decision that changed the course of my life. I repented from my sins and I accepted Jesus Christ in my heart as my Lord and personal Savior. A decision that took away all the jealousy, insecurities and questions in my mind that have been bothering me all throughout those years I was lost. I really thank God for giving me a Christian family, because I realized that I was not alone. Jesus opened my eyes to the truth that I am blessed for having them. And now I can say that Jesus is mine and He can be yours too.
Calling & Training
Having grown up in a Christian family, I’m thankful that God used my parents for me to grow spiritually. In my young age, I started to be involved in the ministry of soul-winning, teaching children and being in our music ministry. As I became more involved in the ministry, I felt that God was calling me to do more for Him. My parents became my inspiration. Despite of hardships and trials in life, they did not quit serving the Lord. God laid in my heart the desire to be used by Him in His ministry. I surrendered my life to the Lord. The life He gave me will be used to serve and glorify His name.
In 2011, I enrolled at Bible Believing Baptist College in Lagawe, Ifugao, Philippines to learn more about the Bible and be trained in the ministry. God entrusted my father to start this Bible school and I’m blessed to be one of the fruits of this school. While studying, I continued being involved in the ministry as a musician and a Christian worker of our church. As I grew in my Christian faith, God put a burden in my heart to reach unsaved children and to share my talent to them.
In 2013, God gave me the opportunity to study at Marietta Bible College in Marietta, Ohio under the leadership of Dr. Myron Guiler. The college emphasizes on prayer, depending only unto God. I thank for giving me this opportunity to be taught by great men of God.
Ministry Experience
After I got saved, I became more involved in the ministry. At a young age, I joined the choir and as grew older I also joined our members and church workers on Gospel tracts distribution and learned how to teach children and lead them to Christ. We were able to gather children in the streets and teach them Bible stories and about God. It’s a blessing because as we teach them, their parents also get to hear the Gospel and most of the time we got to witness to them. I am so thankful to the Lord that the children we used to teach are now attending church and most their parents became members of the church. I also had the privilege of teaching the choir in our church at the age of 16 by being the pianist. I was also able to teach violin lessons to some young people of our church and now they are playing violin during services. I may not be a professional musician but I thank God for giving me a talent to use in the ministry. And through that, I am also able to disciple them as they grew in faith.
