Salvation Testimony
I was born and raised in a Christian home. My parents are Filipino missionaries to the Philippines. Because of that, home-school-church was my usual routine. At a young age, it has been my life’s principle that I must behave myself at all times and God will bless me. I thought that belonging to a Christian family was good enough for me to go to Heaven. So, I never missed to attend even one Sunday service, Sunday school, and other church activities. Life was smooth and easy as if I had no problems. But I knew in myself that I did have problems. Depression and too much worry took control in my younger years. As a little kid one of my fears was darkness. I can still recall instances when I couldn’t see a thing but pure blackness, I would do anything just to search for a glimpse of light because that’s the only thing that could ease and relieve the fear inside me. My heart was covered with worries on how I could overcome my fears.
Then came a life-changing moment that I will never ever forget. It is a vivid memory that it’s as if it just happened yesterday. It was nine o’clock in the evening of March 1, 2003 at our family devotion wherein most of the time my father would just teach us Bible lessons and pray. But that night it was surprisingly different. He shared to us a wonderful story about the love of Jesus Christ. My father sat beside me with a Bible in his hands and began to read John 3:16. That was the very first time I heard that there is a Savior who was willing to give His life for mine. Even though I deserve punishment in hell, He still loved a sinner boy like me. My heart saw a Savior who is willing to save me from darkness in hell if only I believe in Him. My soul was on its way to eternal darkness because of my sins yet that night I saw a light brighter than any lights my heart has ever seen. I knelt down in my bed and prayed to God with tears asking Jesus to come into my heart, believing that He’s the only way to Heaven. After I prayed and accepted Christ, I opened my eyes and felt something different in me. The fears and worries that once covered my heart were changed into overflowing joy and peace. All I can say was "Heaven came down and glory filled my soul." Since then, fear of the dark never covered my heart for I know that Jesus lives and shines within it.
Calling & Training
Being a pastor’s son has never been easy. Even though I was raised in a Christian environment, I experienced the hardships, financial difficulties, problems in the church, and persecution in an ungodly world. I convinced myself that I will never be like my father, so I decided to choose a profession to escape the ministry. After I graduated high school my father advised that before I choose what college I’d enter, I would go to Bible college for one semester for the experience. I followed his advice, packed my stuff, and entered Bible College. I never thought that God was already waiting for me there preparing my life to be a pastor. Every preaching and teaching struck my heart and I finally bent my knee and surrendered my life to serve God in the full time ministry. In that Bible school, God gave me the burden to reach and lead lost souls to Christ. There is no greatest honor than to serve God. Just like what the great apostle Paul once said, “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Jesus Christ”.
By God’s amazing grace I graduated from Bachelor of Arts in Theology in Fundamental Baptist College for Asians in the year 2016. God gave me the privilege to further my studies in the United States. I am now taking up my Master’s degree in Pastoral Studies at Marietta Bible College under the leadership of Dr. Myron Guiler.
Ministry Experience
I was the youth pastor of Ambassador Baptist Church. God placed a burden in my heart to minister to the lives of young people. They have a special place in my heart because I was once a teenager who experienced great pressure and persecution from the world.
By God’s grace, there are 15 young people in our church right now faithfully serving the Lord. Just seeing them grow in faith is a great encouragement for me to keep on reaching more young people and teach them to be faithful believers of Christ and one day would also carry out the Gospel of Christ. Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
