  • Salvation Testimony

I was born and raised in the Visayas region of the Philippines. I grew up in a Christian family. Even before I was born, my dad was already a pastor. My siblings and I were exposed since childhood in a Christian environment, where the church is my playground, church kids were my playmates and church activities were ordinary to me and were just part of my routine as a young boy. Growing up, I felt obligated and just followed as I was told. We woke up at 5am everyday for the family devotions, got up every Saturday for visitation, and we cannot miss any church service. These became a routine for me and I was only doing them because I had to. I thought I was a Christian because I did all of those, but I was not because Jesus was not in my heart.

One ministry of our church was showing Christian films in public places. We invite people around the area to watch these films and preach to them afterwards. One day, when we were having a film showing in the next town of our place, a film about Jesus was shown. Unlike today where these films are more available to people and can be watched in homes, at that time, only a few at our place had seen it. As I watched the film, I saw how Jesus Christ was beaten, mocked and crucified. As I watched, I realized that He suffered so much for me and for everybody. Jesus Christ died for me on the cross to save my soul. All those memory verses, singing, and everything that I did was meaningless until that moment. You have to put your whole trust in Him, it doesn’t matter whether you grew up in Christian home, it doesn’t mean that you are automatically saved. After we watched the film and the invitation was given, I raised my hand and accepted Christ as my personal Savior. That’s the time I finally understood the meaning of being a Christian. It’s when I received Jesus in my heart that I became a Christian. Before, the things I did in church were only a routine for me, but when I got saved, those things became meaningful to me and God put joy in my heart in serving Him.

  • Calling & Training

In 2005, I attended a youth camp in Cebu, one of the Islands in the Philippines. On the 3rd day, I felt that God was calling me to serve Him in His ministry. After the preaching that night and the invitation was given, I walked down towards the altar and surrendered my life to be used in the Lord’s ministry.

I was studying at a secular school when I decided to take a few subjects in Bible school to learn about God’s Word. I was also trained at my home church through the leadership of my father, Pastor Emmanuel Bereso. I was able to handle Bible studies and pastor an outreach in a small village.

In 2016, God gave me the opportunity to further my training at Marietta Bible College, in Marietta, Ohio under the training and leadership of Dr. Myron Guiler.

  • Ministry Experience

I thank the Lord for the privilege He has given me to serve Him in the ministry. While I was studying in the Philippines, I was able to handle a church in one of our villages.

I was also able to lead the youth fellowship of our church. In the Philippines, the young people are the most active in the ministry. From one place to another, I had the opportunity to lead our young people in giving of tracts and sharing the Gospel. We have what we call the College and Career group where our focus is on young adults and young professionals, encouraging them to be involved in the ministry and be witnesses to fellow young adults like them. Through Sports Evangelism, we are able to gather people and engage with them through sports and preach to them the Gospel.
